This December 6, you’re invited to the Stockton Business Information Center for a free seminar to help you and your business get up to speed on what you need to know about Sacramento payroll tax, including:

California payroll reporting requirements, including forms, employer obligations, reporting, and payment requirements.

On December 1st from 9:00am – 12:00pm, small business are invited to Sacramento Works’ Hillsdale Career Center to learn how to get more customers.

The message you use to attract your clients is vital. We will help you write a message that is simple and effective. The result is you’ll get more of the right clients.Many small business owners spend a lot of time and money on advertising that doesn’t work. We can help you fix that.

This class is designed for current business owners who need more business. If you don’t have enough customers, there is a good chance you don’t have enough identity in the marketplace. When you are finished with this class your identity will be much clearer. Take a timeout and make sure your marketing aim is correct.

Use our occupation analysis tools at jobs.sacramentoworks.org to see how a specific occupation fares in your area…

Once you know the type of job or career you wish to pursue, your next step is to find information on specific occupations and explore the labor market in your area. These tools will provide you with a wide variety of information about the occupations you are researching.

The Job Market Explorer will help you find an occupation by analyzing occupational information that you select, such as the type of occupation you’re interested in, the education and experience that you have, and the wages you would like to earn.

You can also use the Career Informer to display information specific to an occupation, such as wages, employers, future employment outlook, work activities and conditions, required skills and abilities, and listings for jobs in that occupation that are currently available in your area.

Unemployment Benefits

Weekly benefit amounts are based upon your previous earnings and are generally 50 percent of the amount you earned while employed, up to a maximum amount. States individually set the minimum and maximum weekly benefit amount, as well as the maximum length of time you are eligible to receive benefits (typically 26 weeks).

Extended benefits may be available in your State during times of high unemployment, and some States provide additional benefits for specific purposes.

You must remain eligible for unemployment benefits during every week in which you file a claim. Some States will allow you to work part time while you’re receiving unemployment benefits, but a portion of those earnings will be deducted from your weekly benefit amount.

Other types of income — such as holiday, vacation, paid leave, sick time, pension or worker’s compensation — might also be deducted from your weekly benefit amount, depending on State law.

Unemployment benefits are subject to Federal and State income taxes and must be reported on your income tax returns. If you choose, your State will withhold Federal income taxes from your check for you.
