How Sacramento Regional Transit connects with the community –
Chanteau Wilson, SacRT’s Human Resource Analyst: “We have an incredible culture and company, great relationships with community partners, and provide amazing services to the Sacramento region.”
Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT) is the leading public transportation provider in the Sacramento Regional with about 1,300 employees. The Sacramento Regional Transit District is the 2021 national APTA Outstanding Public Transportation System of the Year award recipient for accomplishment and innovation in public transportation, the 2021 and 2020 national APTA Rail Safety Gold Award recipient for its multi-faceted and innovative approach to reducing crime and fare evasion, and the 2019 national TSA Gold Standard Security Award recipient for the highest standard of excellence.
What is unique about SacRT?
SacRT is the largest regional transit provider in the Capital Region operating over 82 bus routes (fixed-route, microtransit and dial-a-ride), 43 miles of light rail serving 53 light rail stations and ADA paratransit services all within a 440-square-mile service area throughout Sacramento County, which includes service in the cities of Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom and Rancho Cordova.
SacRT has employment opportunity for the community beyond Bus Drivers; we have HR, Finance, Engineering, light rail operations and maintenance positions. One of our entry level positions that SacRT advocates for is the Transit Ambassador – this position provides customer service to passengers on our light rail system and helps resolve fare issues. This is an entry-level position into SacRT, a popular position – no license required and allows you to get your foot in the door.
Chanteau shares, “we have several positions from entry-level to executive level positions. It is great working with SETA/Sacramento Works to get the word out to the community.”
SacRT has been fortunate to work with SETA/Sacramento Works particularly with Zachary. SETA/Sacramento Works has been a liaison between SacRT and the community. We came together to bridge the recruitment gap[s] – working with the SETA team has been very helpful. This partnership is meeting SacRT’s hiring needs and expectations. SacRT has successfully received 99 applications from individuals for interviews through SETA/Sacramento Works.
