Sacramento Works Folsom Cordova AJCC presents a FREE virtual job readiness workshop series, Moms Back to Work, which is open to Rancho Cordova residents who are enrolled in the Rancho Cordova Workforce Recovery Program. These four Zoom workshops will occur on Thursdays in June 2022. Participants can receive $15 per completed workshop, plus $25 if all four workshops are completed. Virtual Community Health Worker Training
La Familia Counseling AJCC is hosting a 48-hour Community Health Worker Training via ZOOM on Tuesdays & Thursdays (6-8PM), and Saturdays (8A-12P) from May 17 – June 20, 2022. Juneteenth Holiday
Juneteenth is the holiday commemorating the effective end to slavery in the United States. Juneteenth comes from the combination of “June” and “nineteenth”, the day in 1865 in which federal troops ensured freedom to the enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, abolishing slavery nearly 2.5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. June 19th has since been observed as a day of celebration of Black culture, achievement, and a time to reflect on the shared history and ongoing fight for racial justice and equity. This year marks the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth. President Joe Biden signed into law the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, on June 17, 2021. as a Federal Holiday.
