Us Peer Training and Employment Program

California FTB Key Data Operator Exams

The CA Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is holding exams for Key Data Operators. What does a Key Data Operator (KDO) do?  KDOs perform routine key punch or key entry operations to process tax documents and payments.  Please read this 6-page flyer 3PB26.PDF (ca.gov) for further details, including how to apply for the exam, how to open an account in CalCareers, and information on qualifications, job duties; and, testing dates (Self-Scheduling for this examination is offered on a first-come-first-served basis for each examination date.)

No-Cost COVID-19 Testing and Vaccines

SETA Head Start, in partnership with California Department of Public Health and its partners, is hosting voluntary/no-cost COVID-19 vaccine and testing clinics at 3 different locations, on 3 different dates, in September 2022.  Please read each flyer below for more information.  Please share these clinic dates with your family and friends.  These are public events.  At these events, there will be Covid-19 testing available (OTC), first series vaccines, and boosters (for all adults and children ages 6 months and older).  All doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen (vaccines and boosters) will be available.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register, as this significantly reduces the wait time.  ALL CLINIC HOURS ARE 9AM TO 4PM –  September 9 is – Galt C19 Clinic;   September 16 is – SETA C19 Clinic;   September 22 is – Cap City C19 Clinic.

Union Trades Awareness Career Fair

Sacramento Sierra Business Trades presents the Union Trades Awareness Career Fair – Taking it to the Streets Block Party – on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 10am – 2pm, at Immaculate Conception, 3263 1st Ave., Sacramento 95817.  This career fair provides a ‘hands-on’ opportunity for participants to experience a day in the life of construction and non-construction occupations.  Attendees will get the opportunity to: Hang with the brick masons and play with cement; Handle blow torches with the iron workers; Work hammers and special tools with the sheet-metal crew; Build tiny homes with Turner Construction; Work the mini cranes with the OE3 folks; Have in depth Q/A talks with clinicians and all union crafts.  There will be music, food and resources for the whole community!  Please read this flyer for further details PWT_Union-Fair_Flier_8.5×11.

Computer Basics FREE CLASSES at FCAS

Computer Basics FREE CLASSES will be offered by Folsom Cordova Adult School (FCAS) in their Fall and Spring sessions starting September 26, 2022.  The course is 10 weeks and 40 hours.  All classes are Mondays/Wednesdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Fall Classes are from September 26 to December 7, 2022; and, Spring Classes are from February 27 to May 17, 2023.

Public Works Hosting In-Person Career Fair

Sacramento Dept. of Public Works is hiring for multiple part-time and full-time positions and will host an In-Person Career and Resource Fair on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 9AM to 2PM.  The Fair will be held at CSU, Sacramento (6000 J St.) in the Union Building, and is open to the public.   What will attendees learn at the job fair?  There will be subject matter experts from each of our seven divisions.  Staff will be available on site, as well as virtually, to answer any job specific questions attendees may have.  Additionally, we will have laptops available for attendees to create accounts on the governmentjobs.com website.  Attendees will be shown how to sign-up for alerts on new job announcements that match their criteria and interests.
